Jersey Care, Wash & Durability Guide
Keep your stitched letters, heat-sealed numbers, and breathable fabrics pristine for years to come.
1. Turn Inside Out
Always invert your jersey before washing. This shields front numbers, player names, and sleeve patches from abrasive friction inside the drum.
2. Cold Water Only (<30ยฐC)
Hot water degrades thermal adhesive bonds and shrinks polyester mesh. Wash on a gentle, delicate cycle with cold water.
3. Never Tumble Dry
Dryer heat curls vinyl numbers and ruins twill stitching. Hang dry on a wide plastic hanger away from direct sunlight.
๐งผ Step-by-Step Washing Instructions
- Pre-treat stains: For game-day food or beverage stains, dab with mild liquid detergent or oxygen-based stain remover. Avoid harsh chlorine bleach.
- Use a mesh laundry bag: Placing the jersey in a protective garment bag prevents snags from zippers, Velcro, or buttons of other clothing.
- Choose mild detergent: Do not use fabric softeners! Fabric softeners coat polyester moisture-wicking fibers and dissolve heat-transfer adhesives.
- Air Dry naturally: Hang dry in a well-ventilated room. Polyester jerseys dry remarkably fast within 2 to 4 hours.
โ ๏ธ How to Iron or Remove Wrinkles Safely
Direct iron contact will melt printed vinyl numbers and scorch athletic synthetic mesh!
- Best method: Use a handheld garment steamer from a safe distance of 3โ4 inches.
- Ironing method: Turn jersey inside out, set iron to the lowest synthetic setting, and place a damp cotton cloth between the iron and the jersey.
Frequently Asked Questions About Jersey Care
Can I dry clean my sports jersey?
Dry cleaning is not recommended. The industrial chemical solvents used in dry cleaning can weaken embroidered backing and dissolve heat-press glue.
How do I fix peeling numbers or letters?
Place a sheet of parchment paper over the lifted corner and press firmly with an iron heated to medium-low for 10-15 seconds. Let it cool completely before touching.
